MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany men's basketball team (7-5) hosted Carleton (6-3), who sits at the top of the MIAC with an undefeated record, in their first game back from Christmas break. After falling behind early, the Vikings put their foot on the gas pedal and won by a final score of 82-69.
 
Carleton jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead just three minutes into the game, prompting the Vikings to call a timeout. After the timeout, the Vikings went on a 12-1 run to take control. Austin Bauer and Blake Lindstrom were behind the turnaround for the Vikings as they had 10 and 11 points respectively off the bench in the first half. Austin Bauer carved up the defense, shooting 5-6 from the field. Blake Lindstrom was hot from deep going 3-3 from behind the arc. At the break, the Vikings led 42-37.
 
The Vikings did not relinquish control in the second half, stretching their lead to as many as 17 points with less than four minutes remaining in the game. A combination of great offense and tough defense gave the Vikings an 82-69 win over Carleton.
 
As a team, the Vikings shot 53.4% from the field and 10-20 (50%) from behind the arc. The Vikings continued to share the basketball as they racked up 22 assists on 31 made shots. The Viking defense forced Carleton into 15 turnovers while holding the Knights to 2-18 shooting from deep.
 
The Vikings had five players reach double figures with Neil Eichten leading the charge with 15 points. Eichten also dished out a game-high six assists. Austin Bauer and Blake Lindstrom each finished with 14 points. Bradley Rose scored 11 for the Vikings and Jake Dale got his work done in the second half with 10 points.
