Softball Splits With Yellowjackets in UMAC "Game of the Week"

MANKATO, Minn. – In this week's Upper Midwest Athletic Conference "Game of the Week", the Bethany Lutheran softball program played a doubleheader against the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets at the BLC Softball Field.

Need to Know – Bethany Lutheran
- The Vikings have held opponents to one run or less nine times this season.  
- Bethany Lutheran enters the series having won three of its last four games.
- The Vikings scored two runs in the 10th inning to defeat Crown Thursday.
 
Need to Know – Wisconsin-Superior
- The Yellowjackets have scored five or more runs in seven of their 13 wins this season.
- Wisconsin-Superior has held opponents to one run or less in seven wins this season.
- Eight of the Yellowjackets' games in 2017 have been decided by two runs or less.
 
GAME ONE: In game one for the Vikings Anna Pipenhagen (Elk River, Minn.) got her 12th win of the season striking out 12 and giving up three earned runs. Cindy Pawlitschek (St. Paul, Minn.) led the charge on offense for the Vikings with three hits and three runs batted in. Pawlitschek also had the walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh inning that plated two runs. 
 
GAME TWO: The Vikings only scratched out four hits against the Vikings with Christina Wickingson (Mason, Wisc.) recording two of them. Pipenhagen and Wickingson combined to pitch the duration of the second game each giving up one earned run.
 
UP NEXT:
On Tuesday, April 25th the BLC softball team will travel to the North Central University for a conference doubleheader. Game times are set for 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
