MORRIS, Minn. – The BLC volleyball team lost two matches in UMAC play on Tuesday. The first came against Morris by a score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-21) and the second was against Martin Luther 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-23).
Against Morris, the Vikings battled, but were unable to get enough rallies together to take any games off the Cougars. The Cougars recorded 40 kills compared to the Vikings 20. Megan Rutt had six kills for the Vikings, Rachel Sorenson and Natasha Young added three each. Jasmine Carlson had 13 assists for the Vikings and Anna Nelson anchored the defense with 12 kills.
Martin Luther came out quick against the Vikings in match two taking the first set 25-14, but the Vikings settled in and played competitive volleyball in the second and third set. Match totals were more even in the second set with the kill-count at 39 to 34 in favor of Martin Luther. Rachel Sorenson led the offensive attack for the Vikings with 13 kills. Each team recorded 32 assists with Jasmine Carlson dishing up 29 for the Vikings. Anna Nelson had 16 digs.
Up Next: The Vikings are back at home on Friday, September 22 as they host Scholastica and Northwestern. The first match begins at 3 PM against Scholastica, the second match features Scholastica and Northwestern at 5 PM, and the third match will be Bethany against Northwestern at 7 PM.
