WINONA, Minn. – The Vikings women's soccer team played St. Mary's University on the road this Wednesday. The Cardinals entered the contest at 1-1 with a win over Lawrence University and a loss to Ripon College. The Vikings were seeking their first win after dropping their season-opener to Buena Vista University 2-1.
The Vikings fell behind early as the Cardinals jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first half. The Vikings had only two shots on goal in the first half compared to nine for the Cardinals. The Cardinals widened their lead in the second half, adding two more goals to their total for a 7-1 win.
Nicole Moldstad scored the single goal for the Vikings. Her successful attempt came 29 minutes into the first half. The Vikings finished with three shots on goal while the Cardinals accumulated 13 shots on goal.
Up Next: The Vikings look ahead now to this weekend when they will host Wisconsin Lutheran. The match is set to begin at 2 PM on Saturday, September 9.
