MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Vikings volleyball team played their first home match of the year defeating Macalester 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 25-17).
The Vikings used consistent play to win their sets. The Vikings came out attacking in each set enabling them to win three sets to one. Bethany started strong early with a 25-17 victory in the first set. The Vikings ended the second set in exciting fashion. After a back and forth battle with incredible digs, spikes and blocks, the Vikings got the last point giving them the set 25-15.
The Scots didn't go away and came back to win the third set 25-23, ending the set on a 5-2 run. The Vikings would not stand to be outdone as they came back in the fourth set and finished the match, winning 25-17.
Vikings sophomore Megan Rutt led the way with 20 kills, playing some of her best in the last set. Vikings senior Anna Nelson led the team with 21 digs. Scots freshman Abrielle Dillon led her team with 21 digs.
Up Next: The Vikings head to Ashland, Wisconsin September 8-9 for a weekend slate of games. The Vikings will play a total of four matches.
