Knights beat Vikings 2-0

NEW ULM, MN – The BLC men's soccer team was unable to pick up an important UMAC win today. The Vikings lost to the Martin Luther Knights on the road by a score of 2-0. With the loss, the Vikings are no longer in the hunt for the UMAC playoffs as Crown College has secured the final spot.
 
Samuel Duran had a couple tries on net early for the Vikings, but both attempts were blocked. Luis Gandara had a try in the 31st minute, but MLC goalkeeper Gabriel Plocher came up with the save. Moritz Bruns got the start in net for the Vikings and made three first-half saves. After 45 minutes, the score was 0-0.
 
MLC got started quickly in the 2nd half, scoring in the 47th minute. Jonathan Sehloff got a nice look at the net, but Plocher once again came up with a big save for MLC. The Knights added one more goal in the 66th minute and protected their home-field with a 2-0 win.
 
BLC tallied 11 shots with two on goal while MLC had 12 shots with six on goal. Sehloff collected three total shots for the Vikings and Bruns made four saves in net.
 
The loss today puts the Vikings UMAC record at 3-5-3.
 
Up Next: The Vikings have one last game remaining this season when they host the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday, October 27th at 1 PM. The Saints have secured their postseason spot with a current UMAC record of 8-2-1.
