MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran College men's basketball team dropped their second game in a row, losing on the road to Buena Vista University by a score of 100-91. The Vikings are now 2-2 on the season.
 
The Beavers started hot against the Vikings on Thursday night, going 11-22 from the three-point arc in the first half. The Vikings shot 51.6% from the field in the first half, but couldn't keep pace with the Beavers from deep. Buena Vista University guard Dominic Sesma scored 20 first-half points for the Beavers. Dan Gutzmer hit a 40 foot buzzer-beater to end the half and the Vikings went into the locker room down 55-43.
 
The Beavers continued to attack in the second half, stretching their lead to as many as 23 points. Despite getting down, the Vikings fought back and closed the gap to eight points before fouling to try and catch up in the late seconds of the game. Bethany didn't quite have enough tonight as the Beavers won by a final score of 100-91.
 
Cire Mayfield scored 24 points to lead the Vikings. Altogether, five Vikings scored in double figures including Trenton Krueger, Jared Milinkovich, Blake Lindstrom, Jake Dale, and Mayfield. The Beavers won the game from behind the arc, shooting 17-34 to the Vikings 9-24. The Beavers also held the edge at the free-throw line, shooting 19-26 to the Vikings 6-9.
