Mankato, MN. – The Vikings women's basketball team lost to Minnesota State 98-46. Because Minnesota State is a NCAA Division two school, the game was an exhibition and the Vikings record remains at 5-1.
The game was close at the beginning, both teams went shot for shot and the first quarter ended in a 15-16 lead for Minnesota State. The second quarter started out well for the Vikings, as the went on a 5-0 run to take a 20-16 lead. However, Minnesota State came back with a run of their own, going 21-5 run and ended the first half up 37-25. The second half would bring much of the same, with Minnesota State going on a few key runs without the Vikings answering. In the second half, Minnesota State out scored the Vikings 61-21 and won the game 98-46.
The Vikings were led by
Abby Olson with 15 points, 3 steals, and 4 rebounds,
Hanna Geistfeld with 11 points and 6 rebounds, and
Haley Sandin with 10 points and 5 rebounds.
