St. Paul, MN. – The Vikings women's basketball team beat the Macalester College Scots by a score of 69-55 to start their season off with a 1-0 record.
The Vikings started off the game well, going on an 11-5 run to start the first quarter. The Scots fought back however, and were able to end the quarter with a 17-15 lead. The Vikings came back in the second quarter, going on an 18-6 run to put them up 33-23 in the first half. The second half held much of the same. The Vikings outpaced the Scots, and held a 36-32 point advantage.
The Vikings also outpaced the Scots in nearly every category. They had 24 points off turnovers to the Scots 16, 11 bench points to the Scots 6, and 24 points in the paint compared to the Scots 22.
The Vikings were led by
Abby Olson with 18 points,
Haley Sandin with 3 steals, and
Emily Skrien with 3 assists.
