Mankato, MN. – The Vikings Men's basketball team recorded their fourth win in a row, an 89-70 victory over Central College. The win marks the longest streak of the Viking's season, and puts their record at 7-5.
The beginning of the game was close, with both teams swapping leads. However, the Vikings then began fighting back and were soon able to take a 21-14 lead about halfway through the first half. The Vikings carried that momentum into the back part of the half, leading by as much as 12, and ending the half with a 45-37 lead.
The Vikings would keep that momentum going in the second half. They would increase their lead to 20 points, 83-63. They would keep the score close to that 20 point mark, ending the game with a 19 point 89-70 victory.
The Vikings were led by
Cire Mayfield with 25 points and 8 assists. The Vikings also had contributions from
Trenton Krueger, who tallied 9 points and 6 rebounds. The Vikings were hot from deep tonight, shooting 12-23. Blake Lindstrom scored 15 points on 5-6 from behind the arc and Trevin Nelson contributed 15 points off the bench as well.
