Mankato, Minn. – The Bethany Vikings (18-6, 11-4) gave the undefeated UW-Superior Yellowjackets (20-4, 15-0) all they could handle on Senior Day, but lost by a final score of 67-60.
The Vikings played tough in the first half on their way to a 29-26 lead at the break. The Yellowjackets opened up a lead of …. , but the Vikings fought their way back, outscoring Superior 20-11 in the second quarter. The Viking defense held the Yellowjackets to 34.4% shooting from the field and 1-11 from behind the three-point line. Brooke Henning was huge for the Vikings in the first half. The senior had 15 points, shooting 6-10 from the field.
The Vikings beat the Yellowjackets by one point in the third quarter, extending their lead to four points. The Vikings were unable to hang though, as UW-Superior would outscore Bethany 25-14 in the final period to win by a score of 67-60.
Brooke Henning had a great game on senior day, finishing with 21 points and seven rebounds. Haley Sandin was the second leading scorer for the Vikings, finishing with 16 points. The Vikings shot 33.3% from the field for the game and just 4-24 from behind the arc. The Vikings did well at the free throw line, going 18-25.
The Vikings still sit in second place as they push to host a first round playoff game in the UMAC tournament.
