Box Score 2 St. Peter, Minn. - The Bethany baseball team was back on the turf today with a doubleheader on the Gusties newly redone field. The Vikings and Gusties split on the day, with Gustavus taking game one by a score of 2-0 and Bethany answering back in game two with an 8-2 win.
In game one, Bethany couldn't get the bats going as Gustavus' pitching staff held them at bay. The Vikings recorded only two hits in the game, one off the bat of
Kevin Harris, and the other coming from
Diego Martiarena. The Vikings pitching staff kept them in the game as they allowed only one earned run in the contest.
Alex Babcock,
Cody Leitner, and
Jacob Duden combined to throw the game for the Vikings and they amassed six strikeouts and allowed just five hits.
In game two, the Vikings bats got hot and stayed hot throughout the game.
Harris led the charge for the Vikings pounding out three hits and raking in four RBI's to show for his efforts.
Ben Boran also had a solid game for the Vikings recording two hits and scoring three runs.
Hunter Hamers got the win on the mound in relief for the Vikings as he threw four innings of scoreless baseball and allowed just four hits.
Anthony Radloff had a quality effort in his start for the Vikings allowing just one earned run in his three innings on the hill.
UP NEXT: The Vikings will play Crown College on Tuesday, April 3rd in Mankato with scheduled start times of 1:30 and 3:30 P.M.
