MANKATO, Minn. – The BLC women's tennis team played their first and last home match of the season on Wednesday afternoon. The Vikings celebrated senior day, honoring Justine Bennett, Nicole Moldstad, and Averi Cash, as they took on the University of Northwestern. The Eagles proved to be too much for the Vikings, winning 9-0.
 
Denae Walton/Leah Schaefer always take on the challenge of #1 doubles. Walton/Schaefer didn't have enough today and lost by a score of 8-1. Two of the three seniors, Nicole Moldstad and Justine Bennett, took a couple games from their opponent, but lost by a score of 8-2 at #2 doubles. Averi Cash/Sadie Sandersfeld couldn't overcome their opponent, losing 8-0 at #3 doubles.
 
Justin Bennett put up a solid fight in her singles match at #3, losing 6-3, 6-2. Leah Schaefer and Averi Cash were each able to take three games from their opponent in the first set and Nicole Moldstad won two games in the first set of her singles match. Denae Walton lost her match at #1 singles 6-1, 6-2.
 
Up Next: The Vikings finish their regular season schedule with a non-conference match against Crown College on Friday, April 27. The match will be played at Jordan Middle School in Jordan, Minn. at 5 PM.
