Vikings Weather Storm

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Mankato, Minn. - The Bethany baseball team kept their bats hot as they took down the Storm of Crown College by scores of 19-8 and 29-0. With the victories Bethany moves to 16-8 and 11-1 in conference.

In game one, Nick Caldeen and Ben Boran got the game going early with back-to-back home runs in the second inning to put the Vikings ahead 2-0. Caldeen's home run also broke the school record for home runs in a career as he hit his 14th home run. After Caldeen brought in another run in the third, Crown put up three runs to tie the game. From there on out, Bethany held leads for the rest of the day with their bats doing a ton of work. A Mylo Hommes grand slam in the sixth inning gave Bethany control of the game, but plenty of Bethany bats did damage in game one. To go along with his grand slam, Hommes tallied four hits in total, including five RBI's. Ross Beumer continued his impressive run as he also tallied four hits in the game to go along with two RBIs and two runs. Caldeen, Boran, and John Brown all notched three hits for the Vikings in the game with Boran and Brown scoring four runs each. Anthony Radloff pitched seven innings for the Vikings, allowing just three earned runs, striking out eight, and recording the win.

In game two, the Vikings took complete control of the game early and put themselves into the Bethany record books in many different categories for team game performances. The Vikings recorded 28 hits in the contest with 14 different Vikings recording them. Beumer led the charge again for the Vikings tallying four hits, four RBIs, and four runs. The home run was once again crucial in game two as Beumer hit two home runs, and Jake LaBerge and Jacob Fletcher each hit one. Grant Becher contributed greatly to the Viking offense as he recorded three hits and four RBI's in the game. Boran and Diego Martiarena also helped the Vikings by tallying four and three hits respectively. Nick Dewanz handled six innings of work on the hill for the Vikings, allowing just three hits, and striking out four.

UP NEXT: The Vikings will travel to Duluth tomorrow, May 5th to take on St. Scholastica with games at 1:30 and 3:30 PM.
