MANKATO, Minn. – The
Bethany Lutheran College women's tennis season is already underway for the 2018-19 season. The Vikings roster features a handful of new players as well as a few returners. The Vikings hosted their first match of the year on Sunday against Buena Vista University and they came away with a decisive 8-1 victory.
The #1 doubles team features two new faces in
Taylor Bolduan and
Shoshana Bruner. The pair won their first collegiate match 8-3. Senior
Leah Schaefer and freshman
Emma Carmichael paired up for a win at #2 doubles and freshman Doris Lyu and sophomore
Emily Barthel won be default at #3.
Taylor Bolduan played #1 singles for the Vikings and battled hard, but lost in three sets. Shoshana Bruner won at #2 singles by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Leah Schaefer won handily 6-0, 6-0 at #3 and Emma Carmichael picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win at #4. Doris Lyu and Emily Barthel won by default at #5 and #6 singles.
