Morris, MN.  – The Bethany Lutheran College men's basketball team won their sixth straight game, this time against the University of Minnesota, Morris Cougars by a score of 92-88. The win puts the Vikings record at 9-5, and makes their UMAC record 4-1.
 
The game started out poorly for the Vikings, as the Cougars ran up to a 12-6 lead to start. The Vikings would be able to fight back though, and take a 13-12 lead. Then, the Cougars would go on a 14-4 run, and halfway through the first half they would have a 26-17 lead. The Vikings would again fight back, shrinking the Cougars lead to just two points, but the Cougars would take charge again and end the first half up 44-35. The Vikings would only score five points in the last four minutes of the first half.
 
The Vikings didn't wait to warm up in the second half though, and quickly tied the score at 49. The game would stay tight for the next nine minutes, with the Vikings having just a one point lead with under seven minutes left in the game. Then, the Vikings would take charge. They'd go on a 13-8 run and go up 75-68. The Cougars would play hard though, and with just 35 seconds left the score was 85-84, a one point Viking lead. The Vikings would be able to hold on though, and win the game 92-88.
 
Cire Mayfield had a season high 32 points, coupled with 6 rebounds. The Vikings also got help from Austin Bauer with 15 points and Trenton Krueger with 7 rebounds.
 
Up next: The Vikings will look to keep things rolling against the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets at home on Saturday, January 5th at 4:45 p.m.
