Box Score NEW ULM, MN. – The Vikings women's basketball team won decisively over Martin Luther College in their third straight road game by a final score of 106-45. The win keeps the Vikings at the top of the UMAC standings with a 9-1 record.
The Vikings raced out to a 30-5 lead after the first quarter. BLC continued to put the pressure on and took a 50-17 lead into the locker room. The Vikings were hot from the field in the first half, shooting 51.4% overall and 5-15 from three-point range. Their defense held the Knights to 20% shooting from the field and forced 16 turnovers. Abby Olson was back in full force with 15 first-half points on 5-7 shooting from the field and 2-4 from distance. She also collected eight rebounds.
The Vikings won the third quarter 29-21, extending their lead to 41 points. BLC put another 27 points on the board in the 4th quarter and defeated the Knights 106-45 for their highest point total and largest margin of victory this season.
Abby Olson led all scorers with 24 points and nearly had a triple double with 11 rebounds and eight assists. Haley Sandin added 14 points for the Vikings and Hanna Geistfeld scored 12. Natasha Young also had her season-high, scoring 10 points.
The Vikings shots 52.2% from the field and held the Knights to 24.6% shooting. BLC was hot from downtown, shooting 16-32. The Vikings defense forced the Knights into 27 turnovers.
