MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team (7-12 overall) avenged the earlier season loss to Waldorf (9-9) Wednesday in the five-set victory. The Warriors claimed the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-22 but the Vikings would take the next three, 25-16, 25-18, and 15-8. This also snapped a six-game losing streak in the all-time series.
Senior Megan Rutt (Le Center, Minn.) and freshman Alexis Morsching (Morristown, Minn.) led BLC in double digit kills with 13 and 12, respectively. Junior Brittany Sanders (St. James, Minn.) had a double-double with 39 assists and 13 digs.
Senior Veeva Lee (St. Paul) had a team-high 17 digs and was joined in double figures by Sanders, junior Brittany Karnopp (Goodhue, Minn.) with 12 and Rutt with 11.
In the third and fourth sets, the Vikings jumped to early leads which they maintained. In the final set, Bethany led 8-6 when the teams switched sides of the court and won the match on two kills from Morsching, a Waldorf hitting error and a kill from senior Haley Domonoske (Waterville, Minn.).
As a team, BLC owned the advantages in kills, attack percentage, assists, aces, and digs.
