MANKATO, Minn.—Junior Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) tied her own single game school record in three-point field goals with seven in the 73-67 win over Carleton Wednesday. This marked the third time in her career she has accomplished this feat.
Olson was one of three Vikings in double digits as she led the team with 26 points. Classmates Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) had a double double with 16 points and tied her career mark with 13 rebounds, while Kenlie Pytleski (East Chain, Minn.) rounded out the leading scorers with 12 points.
BLC built a 12-point lead in the first quarter, but the Knights began to chip away at it in the second frame. Sophomore Laura Ellinghuysen (Winona, Minn.) helped give the Vikings the five-point lead with her trey at the buzzer at halftime.
Bethany led by five again at the end of the third quarter, but Carleton came back and knotted the game twice in the fourth quarter, which included at 57 all with 7:28 to play. Olson compiled a 9-2 run by herself on three-pointers as the last one tied the record with 3:19 to play to help the Vikings reclaim the lead at 66-59.
The Knights cut it to two with 0:28 remaining and then chose to foul. Olson and Geistfeld made all free throws to seal the win.
Bethany owned the team advantages in all three shooting percentage categories and held Carleton to 17.9% from beyond the arc.
