MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team remained undefeated on the young season as it moved to 3-0 in the 88-62 win over Macalester (0-2) Saturday.
Juniors Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) and Kenlie Pytleski (East Chain, Minn.) co-led the team with 17 points each. Classmate Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) and Laura Ellinghuysen (Winona, Minn.) rounded out the leading scorers with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
The Scots led for most of the first quarter as they opened on an 8-0 run over the first four minutes. The Vikings tied the game at 13 all with 2:03 left in the frame and narrowly led 15-13 at the end of the quarter.
BLC began to build its margin in the second quarter as it later took the 10-point lead (33-23) into the locker room at halftime.
The Vikings maintained their lead for the duration of the contest and led by as many as 36.
Bethany owned all three shooting percentage categories and held Macalester to 12 percent from three-point range.
BLC continues its five-game homestand Monday against Waldorf at 6:30 p.m.
