MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball season opened the season undefeated in the 73-56 win over St. Olaf Saturday.
Three Vikings finished in double digits as junior Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) led the way with her double double (20 points and 10 rebounds). Classmate Hanna Geistfeld (Truman) led all players with 23 points and freshman Skylar Cotten (Grand Meadow, Minn.) had 10.
Junior Kenlie Pytleski (East Chain, Minn.) tied her career mark in rebounds with 11.
After two ties early on, Bethany took the lead at 8-7 with 4:27 to play in the frame, and later led 40-31 at halftime. Olson and Geistfeld were already in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
The Vikings opened the third quarter with a 12-4 run to push the margin into double digits which they did not relinquish.
BLC owned the advantages in team field goal percentage (.400 vs. .325), three-point field goal percentage (.318 vs. .053), and assists (17-14).
Bethany continues its five-game homestand next Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Carleton.
