ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) became the fifth member of Bethany Lutheran's 1,000 career point club Tuesday in the 84-76 overtime win against St. Catherine.
BLC moves to 8-2 overall and the Wildcats fall to 4-6.
On her second free throw with 4:44 left in the second quarter, Olson recorded her 1,000
th career point. She finished with 33 points on the day and was a perfect 13-13 at the free throw line. This marked a new career mark for her at the charity stripe.
St. Catherine led 34-30 at halftime and the Vikings used a big fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.
In the extra session, Olson scored eight of Bethany's first 10 points to lead by eight with 0:45 left.
Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) scored 27 points and senior Emily Skrien (Nicollet, Minn.) completed those in double digits with 12.
BLC improved to 6-5 all-time in overtime games. Interestingly, the last two overtime games have been against St. Kate's.
The Vikings return to the court Saturday when they host Valley City State University at 3 p.m.
