NEW ULM, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (5-1 overall, 1-0 UMAC) opened conference play with a 90-57 victory over Martin Luther (0-8, 0-1) Wednesday. This marked the ninth-straight win in the series for BLC. Every player that dressed for the Vikings saw playing time.
Juniors Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) and Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) led all scorers with 22 and 20 points, respectively. Olson scored her point total in the first half alone and Geistfeld had 18 in the first two quarters.
Bethany opened the game on a 13-2 run over the first three minutes of play and never relinquished the lead. The Vikings continued to lead by a double digit margin as they led 54-19 at halftime.
BLC owned the team advantage in all three shooting percentage categories, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.
Bethany is off from competition until next Wednesday when it hosts Northwestern at 7:15 p.m.
