LAKEVILLE, MN – The Bethany Lutheran College men's tennis team started the season with a 6-3 win over North Central University on Friday morning.
 
The lineup for the Vikings features familiar faces from last year's squad as well as a few new players. In singles play, the Viking lineup featured Laine Larson, Dalton Werckman, Carter Dahl, Nico Martinez Biali, Noah Gernander, and David Lee at 1-6 respectively. The doubles teams were Dalton Werckman and Carter Dahl at one, Laine Larson and Nico Martinez Biali at two, and Noah Gernander and David Lee at three.
 
The top three singles players for the Vikings made quick work of their opponents. Larson won convincingly 6-1, 6-1, Werckman went 6-2, 6-0, and Dahl won 6-1, 6-1. Biali was challenged in his second set at the four spot, but won 6-1, 7-5. David Lee hung tough, but lost his singles match in three sets.
 
Werckman and Dahl took care of business in the top doubles spot, winning 8-1. Larson and Biali won handily, 8-4. Lee and Gernander challenged the Rams, but lost 8-4.
 
 
Up next: The Vikings have a quick turnaround as they will play two matches tomorrow against Morningside College (IA) and Northwestern College (IA) at the Oakdale Village Lifetime Fitness in Minnetonka.
