Women's tennis opens UMAC with win

Box Score LAKEVILLE, MN – The Bethany Lutheran College women's tennis team opened Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play with a 7-2 win over North Central University. The Vikings defeated the Rams earlier this season in non-conference play by a score of 7-2. The win moves the Vikings overall record to 4-5 and puts them at 1-0 in conference play.
 
The Vikings started the afternoon by sweeping all three doubles matches. Taylor Bolduan and Shoshana Bruner won 8-1 at #1 doubles, their fourth win together. Audrey Peterson and Jessalyn Aune-Smith won 8-3 at #2, their second win of the season together. Leah Schaefer and Karena Verbitsky paired together for the first time this season and won 8-6 at #3.
 
Taylor Bolduan had a nice come-back win at #1 singles. After dropping the first set 4-6, she took the second set 6-0 and won the third set tiebreaker 10-2. Shoshana Bruner won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, at #2 singles. Leah Schaefer cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at #3 singles and Jessalyn Aune-Smith won easily 6-1, 6-1 at #5.
 
Up next: The Vikings play Tuesday, March 26th at 10 AM against Southwest State at the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, MN.
