Box Score 2 MANKATO, MN – The BLC Vikings split two conference games today with the UW-Superior Yellowjackets. The Vikings are now 12-13 overall and 6-2 in UMAC play. The Yellowjackets are 8-14 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
The Vikings fell behind quickly in game one as the Yellowjackets scored five runs in the top of the first inning. In the third inning, the Vikings came storming back and scored five runs of their own to tie the game. Connor Side and Grant Becher each tallied a single and a run during the rally. Tom Gannon recorded a double and a run and Nick Caldeen blasted a homer. The Yellowjackets pitching and defense held the Vikings scoreless the rest of the way and their offense spread out five more runs for a 10-5 victory.
The Vikings fell behind again in game two as the Yellowjackets held a 3-0 lead after five innings, but a charge in the sixth helped the Vikings take the lead. BLC put together six runs which included a three-run bomb from Ben Boran over the left field fence. Tom Gannon, Jake LaBerge, Brady Schuster, Grant Becher, and Ross Beumer all contributed in the effort. The Yellowjackets would score one more run in the game, but the Vikings came out on top 7-4.
