Minneapolis, MN. – The Bethany Lutheran College Vikings softball team swept the North Central University Rams, winning the first game 9-1 and the second game 15-0. The win sets the Vikings record at 22-9 and it keeps them undefeated in the UMAC conference, with a record of 12-0.
The first game started off with the Vikings and the Rams going scoreless through the first inning, and then in the top of the second inning, the Vikings would score eight runs, with part of that rally coming from a three RBI triple by
Haylee Sobrero. The Vikings would score again and for the final time in the fourth inning off of a
Taylor Kottke sacrifice, which saw
Morgan Mashlan score. The Rams would answer back with one run in the fourth, and the game ended in the fifth inning, 9-1.
The Vikings saw a much more spread out scoring effort in the second game, scoring in all but one inning, and scoring 15 runs with 8 different players. The Rams would not be able to answer, and the final score would be 15-0.
Haylee Sobrero would come up big in this game, scoring one run and hitting two RBI's with three at bats.
Up next: The Vikings will host a double header against the Univesity of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets on Wednesday, April 24th with the first game starting at 3:30 p.m.
