ST. PAUL, MN – The Bethany Lutheran men's tennis team fell to the University of Northwestern 9-0 in UMAC play. The matches started on Wednesday, but rain postponed the contest halfway through, so the two teams finished up this evening. The Eagles move to 5-0 in conference play while the Vikings fall to 3-3.
Dalton Werckman and Carter Dahl gave a solid effort at #1 doubles, but fell 8-3. In singles play, Dalton Werckman came out strong in the first set, defeating his opponent 6-1. He lost the second set 6-3 and then came up short in the tiebreaker, 10-8, to lose in three sets. Carter Dahl made it tough for his opponent at #3 singles. He won a total of seven games, but lost 6-4, 6-3. Nico Martinez Biali hung tough in the first set, losing 7-5, and fell in the second set 6-2.
Up next: The Vikings will battle it out on Saturday, April 27 at 12 PM at home against Martin Luther College. The two teams are both 3-3 in UMAC play, so the winner will advance to the postseason tournament.
