MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran men's soccer team (1-1 overall) fell 2-1 to nonconference opponent, Bethel University (2-0) Wednesday evening.
The game was scoreless until the Royals connected on a cross from the far side to take the 1-0 lead at 33:16.
This remained the score through halftime. Freshman Joao Bastos (Piracicaba, Brazil) evened the game with his goal on a ball to the right side of the net from classmate Luuk Oosterbosch (Veldhoven, The Netherlands).
Bethel would net the eventual game-winner with 10 minutes left on a pass that was tapped in for the score.
The Royals owned the advantages in shots (16-10), but the corner kicks were even at six each.
