MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (9-5 overall, 4-1 UMAC) reached the century mark and increased its winning streak to four in the 100-79 win over Northland Saturday.
Four Vikings finished in double digits as sophomore Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) led all scorers with 19 points. Senior Trenton Krueger (Eagan, Minn.) had 17, and junior Trevin Nelson (Chisago Lakes, Minn.) and freshman Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) each finished with 10.
Junior Jared Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) led the team on the glass with 10 rebounds.
The first half remained close as the LumberJacks led 23-22 with 7:08 left. BLC answered with a 14-0 run over the next three minutes to pull ahead 36-23, and later led 49-38 at halftime.
Bethany continued to lead in the second frame as every team member that dressed saw playing time.
The Vikings owned the advantages in field goal percentage (50.0 vs. 41.9), free throw percentage (80.0 vs. 72.7), rebounds (54-28), offensive rebounds (19-5), assists (23-17), and blocks (4-2).
BLC concludes its homestand Wednesday when it welcomes North Central at 5:30 p.m.
