MANKATO, Minn. – Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) became the sixth member of the Bethany Lutheran's 1,000 career point club Saturday in the 96-66 win over Northland.
BLC moves to 11-2 overall and 4-1 in UMAC games, while the LumberJills are now 2-9, 0-5.
Geistfeld joined the club with her layup just 10 seconds into the contest. She would finish with 30 points, just one shy of her career mark, and a double double, as she had a team-best 11 rebounds. Her 14 field goals set a new single-game career-best.
Four other players tallied double digits as junior Kenlie Pytleski (East Chain, Minn.) had 12 points, classmates Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) and Natasha Young (Nicollet, Minn.) both had 11 and freshman Amanda Younge (Mankato, Minn.) had 10.
The Vikings opened the contest on a 9-0 run over the first three minutes and never looked back. BLC later led 40-32 at halftime and 69-52 after the third quarter.
Bethany owned the team advantage in field goal percentage (55.9 vs. 32.4) rebounds (57-26), offensive rebounds (18-11), assists (26-12), and blocks (1-0).
BLC concludes its four-game homestand Wednesday when it hosts North Central at 7:15 p.m.
