Bethany Lutheran Moves Winning Streak to Six in Victory over Saints

DULUTH, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (11-5 overall, 6-1 UMAC) increased its winning streak to six in the 91-75 win over St. Scholastica (7-9, 5-3) Saturday afternoon. This victory also snapped a three-game winning streak for the Saints.

St. Scholastica led by seven twice in the first half, which included 32-25 with 7:33 to play. BLC began to chip at the margin and later took the three-point lead at halftime (44-41).

The Saints opened the second half with a trey to even the score at 44 all. Consecutive layups from senior Trenton Krueger (Eagan, Minn.) and junior Jared Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) gave BLC the four-point advantage and it would lead for the duration of the contest.  The Vikings pushed the margin to double digits for the last six minutes of the game.

Four players finished in double digits as Krueger had a double double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Milikinovich match his 18 points, sophomore Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) had 16 and freshman Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) tallied a career-high 12.

BLC owned the team advantages in all three shooting percentage categories and held St. Scholastica to 23.3% from the arc.

Bethany continues its three-game road trip Wednesday at Crown at 5:30 p.m.
