ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (12-5 overall, 7-1 UMAC) moved its winning streak to seven in the 89-69 win over Crown (5-10, 4-4). With the victory, the Vikings are in a three-way tie for first place in the UMAC standings.
BLC opened the contest on a 10-0 run over the first four minutes and never looked back. Bethany later led 39-24 at halftime and pushed the margin to as many as 22 twice in the second frame.
Senior Trenton Krueger (Eagan, Minn.) led all scorers with 29 points and finished with a double double for the second-straight game as he had 10 rebounds. Three teammates joined him in double figures as sophomore Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) had 21 points, junior Brian Smith (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) had 11 and freshman Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) finished with 10.
Bethany owned the team advantages in field goal percentage (50.8 vs. 36.4), free throw percentage (87.5 vs. 85.7), assists (14-13), blocks (4-3), steals (7-6) and forced 18 turnovers.
The Vikings conclude their three-game road trip Saturday at Minnesota-Morris at 3 p.m.
