MORRIS, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (15-2 overall, 8-1 UMAC) set the school record with its tenth-straight win in the 60-59 victory over Minnesota-Morris (9-8, 5-4) Saturday. The record was previously nine consecutive victories which occurred this season and last season (Jan. 5-Feb. 6, 2019).
BLC continues to have sole ownership of first place in the UMAC standings. This win completed the season sweep and the fourth-straight in the all-time series.
Junior Kenlie Pytleski (East Chain, Minn.) scored the game-winner with her three-point basket with 12 seconds left.
The Vikings trailed 26-13 after the first, 41-22 at halftime, 52-48 after the third and used a 12-7 fourth quarter as they battled back to take the lead for only the second time in the contest on Pytleski's trey.
Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) recorded her third-straight double double performance (25 points and 10 rebounds). Classmates Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) and Pytleski rounded out the leading scorers with 18 and 10 points, respectively.
Defensively, BLC held the Cougars to 17.4% from three-point range.
Bethany returns to competition Wednesday when it hosts Martin Luther at 7:15 p.m.
