MANKATO, Minn. –The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball moved to 14-5 overall and 9-1 in UMAC games to push its winning streak to nine in the 94-72 win over Martin Luther. This also marked the tenth-straight win over the Knights in the series.
Four Vikings finished in double digits as sophomore Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) led all scorers with 20 points. Senior Trenton Krueger (Eagan, Minn.) followed with 16 points and freshmen Hunter Nielson (New Prague, Minn.) and Justin Schrupp
(Danube, Minn.) each tallied 14. Nielson set a new career-best and Schrupp tied his personal mark with their point totals.
Mayfield recorded 16 of his total points in the second half and Nielsen scored 10 of his in that stanza.
The first half was back and forth as the Knights led 36-32 with 6:40 to play in the frame. BLC answered with a 15-0 run over the next three minutes to take the lead for good at 47-36.
Bethany led 53-40 at halftime and moved the advantage to as many as 24 points late in the second half.
The Vikings owned the advantages in all three team shooting percentage categories, rebounds (47-35), assists (28-13), and blocks (10-2).
