MANKATO, Minn. – Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) scored a career-high 32 points to help Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (17-2 overall, 10-1 UMAC) defeat St. Scholastica (7-13, 5-6) Saturday.
Her previous mark was 31 points, which she had accomplished in three other games, most recently against Saint Benedict on Dec. 28, 2019. Geistfeld finished with a double double as she led all players with 14 rebounds.
This victory increased the school-record winning streak once more, this time to 12-straight games.
Junior Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) joined Geistfeld in double digits with 29 points. Each of these two players made 10 free throws.
The Vikings opened the contest on a 13-8 run and never relinquished their lead. BLC later led 42-29 at halftime as Olson had 15 of her points and Geistfeld had 13 in the first two quarters.
Bethany owned two of the three team shooting percentage categories and outrebounded the Saints, 51-28. BLC has clinched a spot in the UMAC Tournament.
The Vikings now open a three-game road trip Wednesday when they travel to face North Central at 7:15 p.m.
