Men's Basketball Hosts St. Scholastica in Conference Tournament Championship

MANKATO, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (20-6 overall) hosts St. Scholastica (15-12) in the UMAC Tournament Championship Saturday at 5 p.m. The Vikings are the No. 2 seed and the Saints are the No. 4 seed.

The Series
BLC owns the all-time series lead at 21-16, as it claimed both regular season meetings.

Bethany Lutheran
The Vikings have four players in double digits as sophomore Cire Mayfield (St. Louis Park, Minn.) leads the team with 18.1 PPG. Senior Trenton Krueger (Eagan, Minn.) follows at 16.2 and juniors Jared Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) and Brian Smith (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) round out the leading scorers with 13.2 and 12.8 PPG, respectively.

Krueger leads the team on the glass with his 8.5 rebounds/game. Mayfield has a team-high 182 assists and Smith has a team-best 47 steals.

BLC in Conference Tournament
This marks the fourth-straight year and eighth overall appearance in the UMAC Tournament. This is the fourth appearance in the Championship game for the program. The Vikings previously won the title in 2018.

Career Record Watch
Krueger is first in blocks (82) and field goals (462), third in rebounds (589), fifth in games started (78), sixth in points (1,149), and tied for ninth in free throws (193). Jared Milinkovich is third in blocks (57) and fifth in steals (103). Mayfield is fourth in assists (320) and ninth in field goals (363) and freshman Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) is 10th in blocks (29).

Single Season Record Watch
Mayfield is first in assists (182), tied for third in field goals (182), and tied for sixth in points (470). Nielsen is fourth in blocked shots (29) and Smith is tied for sixth in steals (47) and seventh in assists (102).

Krueger is first in rebounds (221), fifth in field goals (178), fifth in blocks (28), and 10th in points (421). Milinkovich is tied for eighth in rebounds (175) and ninth in blocks (20).

As a team, the Vikings have set a new record in blocks (114), assists (508), field goals (899), and three-point field goals (262).

St. Scholastica
The Saints upset top-seeded Northwestern Wednesday night.

Five players average in double digits as Collin Anderson paced the team at 15.3 PPG. Nick Carlson follows at 14.6, Jarod Wilken is at 12.3, Jack Silgen has 12.1, and Quinn Fischer averages 10.3.

Wilken leads the team on the glass with 7.5 rebounds/game.
