Women's Basketball Hosts UW-Superior in Conference Tournament Championship

MANKATO, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team (22-3 overall) host UW-Superior (18-8) in the UMAC Tournament Championship Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Vikings are the No. 1 seed and the YellowJackets are the No. 2 seed.

The Series
UWS owns the all-time series lead at 14-4, but BLC has claimed the last three-straight. This includes the two regular season meetings this season and the UMAC Tournament Championship last year. 

Bethany Lutheran
Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) leads the team with 21.6 PPG and 10.4 rebounds/game. Classmate Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) follows with 19.2 PPG, and has 81 assists and 43 steals. Junior Kenlie Pytleski (East Chain, Minn.) is just shy of double figures at 9.2 PPG.

BLC in Conference Tournament
This marks the fifth-straight year and sixth overall appearance in the UMAC Tournament. This is the third-straigth appearance in the Championship game for the program. The Vikings previously won the title in 2019.
 
Career Record Watch
Olson ranks second in three-point field goals (168), second in assists (258) and points (1,299), fourth in free throws (288), and fifth in steals (150), and field goals (419). Geistfeld is second in field goals (496), third in points (1,285), and sixth in rebounds (604). Pytleski is sixth in blocks (65) and 10th in three-point field goals (67). Senior Emily Skrien (Nicollet, Minn.) is ninth in three-point field goals (79).

Season Record Watch
Geistfeld is second in field goals (206) and points (540), and sixth in free throws (125). Olson is third in three-point field goals (66), fourth in points (479), tied for eighth in field goals (150) and free throws (113), and ninth in assists (81).

UW-Superior
Three players average in double digits as Eva Reinertsen leads the team at 18.0 PPG. Emily Carpenter follows at 12.9 and Marissa Ruiz at 11.2. Reinertsen also leads the team on the boards with 8.3 rebounds/game.
