This marks the first win in the NCAA Tournament for the program and first NCAA postseason win for any women's basketball team among UMAC schools.
This is the second appearance in the NCAA Tournament for the program, and is the second-straight trip.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the score was tied 46-46 and would be tied another three times in the frame, which included 58 all with 1:11 to play.
Senior Emily Skrien (Nicollet, Minn.) gave BLC the one-point advantage as she made both of her free throws. Bethel regained the ball until junior Abby Olson (Montevideo, Minn.) executed a perfect pick pocket steal and junior Emilee Gustin (Norwood, Minn.) drew the foul and made both free throws to make it 61-58 with 0:22 remaining.
The Royals called timeout to advance the ball to midcourt. Their three-point attempt was unsuccessful and was corralled by Olson as she sprinted up the floor. She was fouled and made one of her two free throws to bring it to 62-58 with 0:10 left.
Another timeout was called and the ball was advanced once more. Bethel attempted another triple and Gustin came down with the rebound to seal the win.
Olson led all scorers with 21 points and Gustin joined her in double figures with 12. Junior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) had a team-best 12 rebounds.
Defensively, Bethany held Bethel to 24.2% from beyond the arc as it made only eight of the 33 treys attempted. BLC owned all three team shooting percentage categories.
With the victory, the Vikings continue to set the single season win mark as they currently stand at 24.
