MINNEAPOLIS — Junior Ashley Schindele (Kimball, Minn.) had a career-high 14 points in Bethany Lutheran's 76-59 win over Augsburg Wednesday. With the win, the Vikings move to 2-0 on the season.
The Auggies led 21-15 after the first quarter. BLC outscored them 16-6 in the second frame to take a four-point lead at halftime.
Bethany pushed the margin to double digits on a jumper by freshman Haley Meyer (Centerville, SD) with 4:13 to go in the third (51-41).
Augsburg sliced the lead to five on a triple with 2:10 left in the stanza, but the Vikings answered with a 7-0 run to take a 12-point lead at the end of the third.
BLC led by as many as 19 late in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Senior Hanna Geistfeld (Truman, Minn.) led all scorers with 30 points. Schindele had 14 and sophomore Sara Kottke (Buffalo Lake, Minn.) finished with a double double with 10 points and as many rebounds.
The Vikings once again won the rebound battle (51-38).
Bethany continues its 11-game road trip Friday at 6 p.m. against No. 17 UW-Oshkosh at St. Benedict's tournament.
