WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (3-2 overall) used a 48-point second half effort to defeat host-Carroll 81-76 Saturday.
The Pioneers led 34-33 at halftime, and the score was tied six times in the second frame, which included for the last time at 68 all with 2:03 to play. The Vikings opened a six-point lead to reclaim the lead for good over the next 90 seconds thanks to successful free throws.
Four players finished in double digits as junior Justin Schrupp (Danubue, Minn.) had 17, freshman Ryan Samuelson (Jordan, Minn.) had a career-high 14, senior Jacob Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) had 11, and sophomore Jordan Merseth (Mankato, Minn.) had a career-high 10 points, and added a career-best seven rebounds.
For his efforts on the weekend, Milinkovich was named to the All-Tournament team.
Bethany owned the advantage in blocks (3-0).
The Vikings return to action next Friday in an exhibition against NCAA Division II opponent, Minnesota State University-Mankato at 6 p.m.
