MANKATO, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team (3-3 overall) fell 66-62 to Gustavus (3-3) Monday night.
In a back and forth game, the Vikings took the 31-30 lead into the locker room for halftime. A close, competitive game continued in the second half as the Gusties led by four in the first two minutes, but BLC answered to take a four-point lead of its own four minutes later.
The lead changed hands four more times until Gustavus built a seven-point margin (62-55) with 2:12 to play. Bethany made it a one-point game on a triple from junior Justin Schrupp (Danube, Minn.) with :16 left.
The Gusties made their free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Schrupp led all scorers with 20 points. Junior Hunter Nielsen (New Prague, Minn.) joined him in double figures with 15 points. Schrupp and senior Jacob Milinkovich (New Prague, Minn.) co-led the team with eight rebounds each.
Defensively, BLC held Gustavus to 18.8% from beyond the arc.
