Baseball Hosts Crown to Open Conference Slate

MANKATO, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran baseball team (2-9 overall, 0-0 UMAC) hosts Crown (8-16, 1-1) Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in a doubleheader to open the UMAC slate.

Spectator Policy
All team members (Bethany and visiting teams) participating in an outdoor contest are allowed two guests. Spectators will be required to properly mask and sit socially distant during the entire event. Spectators will also have to sign-in with names and phone numbers at a check-in location for contact tracing purposes.
 
Within 24 hours prior to the start of competition, all spectators should complete a Clear Campus profile to determine if they are able to attend:  web.ivy.ai/app/campusclear.

In order to maintain proper distancing, all spectators will be asked to leave the venue immediately at the end of the competition and prior to the dismissal of the teams by their coaches.

The Series
BLC leads the series at 39-2.

Bethany Lutheran
Junior Carter Wendlandt (Minneapolis) leads the team at the plate with his .303 batting average. Freshman Reed Brown (St. Michael, Minn.) follows at .250, junior Kaylan Legred (Blue Earth, Minn.) is at .241, and senior Jake LaBerge (Round Rock, Texas) follows at .233. Freshman Ben Hopper (North Mankato, Minn.) leads the team with six RBI.

Senior Logan Nissen (Olivia, Minn.) leads the pitchers with his six appearances and 3.65 ERA and junior Adam Fjerstad (Hayfield, Minn.) has a team-best 21 strikeouts.

NCAA Stat Rankings
BLC ranks in the top 100 of two national stat categories. The Vikings are 26th in strikeouts/nine innings (10.2), and 69th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.30).

Two players ranks in the top 100 as LaBerge is 47th in doubles/game (0.60) and sophomore Daniel Salinas (St. Paul) is 32nd in hits allowed per nine innings (4.09).
 
Career Record Watch
Senior Ross Beumer (Northfield, Minn.) is tied for fourth in doubles (30). Nissen is tied for first in saves (5), tied for fourth in appearances (39), seventh in strikeouts (125) and tied for eighth in wins (11). Fjerstad is tied for fifth in saves (2).

Crown
Chad Herrera leads his team with his .351 average. Kyle Schroedle follows at .338, Seth Betts is at .313, and Mason Brock averages .300. Schroedle has a team-high 27 RBI. Eric Newman leads the starting pitchers with a 3.18 ERA in 28.1 innings pitched.
