Bethany Lutheran Moves Winning Streak to Four

Box Score MINNEAPOLIS— The Bethany Lutheran baseball team (6-10 overall, 4-1 UMAC) won the first game of the doubleheader 3-0 against North Central (2-7, 1-4) Tuesday. The second game has been postponed to an unknown date due to North Central's campus closing this afternoon due to the unrest downtown.

The game was scoreless through three innings. In the top of the fourth, freshman Ben Hopper (North Mankato, Minn.) drove in junior Carter Wendlandt (Minneapolis) on his double down the right field line to take the 1-0 lead.

Wendlandt hit a solo homer in the sixth to double the lead. The Vikings scored the final run of the game in the seventh as freshman Reed Brown (St. Michael, Minn.) plated junior Kaylan Legred (Blue Earth, Minn.) on his single to right.

Freshman Matt Wood (West Hills, Calif.) pitched a career-high 9.0 innings and recorded a career-best seven strikeouts to earn the win.

BLC returns to the field Saturday when it hosts St. Scholastica in a doubleheader with first pitch at 1:30 p.m.
