DULUTH, Minn.-- The Bethany Lutheran softball team (21-17 overall) fell 6-4 to UW-Superior (20-14) in the UMAC Tournament Saturday. This was the end of the game that was suspended Friday night due to darkness.
Â
The teams resumed the game tied 4-4 in the eighth inning.
Â
In the top of the frame, the YellowJackets hit a leadoff double, and was sacrificed to third. A foul out and a groundout stranded her on third.
Â
The Vikings were retired in order to send the game to the ninth. UW-Superior hit a leadoff single, moved to second on a passed ball and third on a wild pitch, and then scored on a triple to right center for the go-ahead run. That runner scored on the next batter's single to left to make it 6-4.
Â
In the bottom of the ninth, junior Zoe Kinakin (Victoria, British Columbia) hit a one-out single, but was unfortunately left stranded as the next two batters were retired.
Â
Bethany ends the season 21-17.
