ST. BONIFACIOUS, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran volleyball team Friday night took a convincing three-set victory over Crown. With the win the Vikings move to 4-13 overall and 2-4 in conference while the Polars move to 2-15 overall and 0-6 in the UMAC.
The Vikings took control of this one early, going on a 14-0 run off the service of Maddi Wendland with the sophomore recording five service aces during that span. Bethany would continue to play strong, closing out the set 25-10.
In the second, the Vikings dominated from start to finish, taking it 25-6. The final set played more competitive, with the Polars hanging in it early. The Vikings though, would extend their lead to 16-8 and eventually close out the set 25-18.Â
Bethany was led in the match by Alexis Morsching with seven kills, while Maddie Meyer added six with no attacking errors for an attack percentage of .600. Esther Peeters dished out 13 assists in the match, while Wendland let the team with nine digs. The Vikings totaled 15 service aces in the match, with Wendland leading the team with six.Â
As a team, the Vikings posted their second highest attack percentage of the season at .175 thanks to 22 kills and just 12 errors. The 15 service aces are also a new season best.Â
Bethany will be back in action tomorrow for a 3:30 p.m. match at Minnesota-Morris.
