Box Score

MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran women's basketball team Tuesday took to the road where they fell to UW-Stout by a score of 73-61. With the loss the Vikings fall to 0-4 while the Blue Devils move to 1-1.

The Vikings and Blue Devils played an even first quarter, tying at 15 after 10 minutes of play. Bethany would gain a six point lead midway through the second quarter but Stout would catch fire late in the half as they went on a 15-2 run the last 3:08 to lead 36-29 at the break.

In the third quarter the Vikings would cut the deficit to five a few times, but the Blue Devils would hold them at bay. A Taryn Christensen three-pointer with one second left would cut the Stout lead to 58-52 heading into the final quarter of play.

Six points was the closest Bethany would get though as the Blue Devils went on a 9-0 run to begin the fourth quarter and didn't look back as they took home a 73-61 win.

Haley Meyer led all scorers in this one with 23, while Ashley Schindele scored 14 points to go along with six rebounds. As a team the Vikings had the better field goal percentage with 43.5 to the Blue Devils 43.1, but the home team was able to corral 15 offensive rebounds in the contest to help propel them to victory.

The Vikings are back in action Saturday when they travel to UW-Platteville for a 6 p.m. matchup.
