Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Falls to Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team traveled to Carleton on Friday night and dropped a 99-91 decision. With the loss the Vikings fall to 10-2 while the Knights move to 9-1.

The first few minutes set the pace in this one as both teams traded buckets in the early going before back-to-back three pointers from Jax Madson and Justin Schrupp pushed the Vikings to an 18-12 lead. Carleton responded with an 8-0 run of their own thanks to two three pointers before the teams started going back and forth again. Bethany would push their lead to as far as eight with five minutes left, but the Knights would finish the half strong to head cut the Bethany lead to 46-44 at the break.

The two teams would play even the first few minutes of the second half before the Knights started to build a lead. Leading 59-58 they would go on a 10-3 run to lead 69-61 with 11:49 left. Bethany would cut the lead to five with a three-pointer by Drew Sagedahl, but Carleton would score 11 of the next 13 to lead 80-66 with eight minutes left. The Vikings would trim the lead to six a few times down the stretch but couldn't get any closer as the Knights took the win.

Sagedahl finished with 24 points to lead the Vikings while Jax Madson finished with 23 points and six assists. Hunter Nielsen had a strong game down low with 16 points to go along with nine rebounds.

The Vikings will next be in action on Tuesday when they host Finlandia for a 6 p.m. contest.
