NEW ULM, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran baseball team (14-12 overall, 10-5 UMAC) completed its series sweep over Martin Luther (3-21, 3-11) Tuesday in the 11-1 seven-inning victory.
The Vikings plated nine runs in the first inning which included two-run singles by freshmen Aidan Russell and Malachi Santiago, both of Gilbert, Ariz.
An RBI double from junior Ben Hopper (North Mankato, Minn.) in the fifth and sac fly from junior Matt Verdugo (Arvada, Colo.) made it 11-0.
The Knights tallied their lone run of the day on a sac fly in the seventh.
Hopper went 3-5 with two runs. Freshman Gavin Jacobsen (Jackson, Minn.) earned the win and fanned four in his five innings of work
Bethany concludes its four-game road trip this weekend with a weekend series at Crown.
