MANKATO, Minn.—The Bethany Lutheran softball team (12-9 overall, 2-0 UMAC) swept the doubleheader with Northland (1-15, 0-2) late Saturday night.
Sophomore Ana Christofferson (Mankato, Minn.) gave BLC the 5-4 victory in game one as she scored the winning run on an error.
In the finale, Bethany tallied one in the first and used an eight-run third inning to extend the margin. The LumberJills plated one in the fifth. They had two outs and drew a walk to load the bases as they looked to continue their rally. The next batter struck out to seal the shortened game win and sweep for the Vikings.
Senior Eden Ambrose (Hugo, Minn.) had two stolen bases in the second game, to push her atop the career leader board in that category. She surpassed the previous mark of 36 set by Susan Hegstrom in 2007-10.
Bethany returns to the field Tuesday against Minnesota Morris in a doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. in its home opener.
